～ The Self-Dialysis System will be exhibited at the 2024 Good Design Award Exhibition to be held at Tokyo Midtown (Roppongi) from November 1 to 5, 2024. ～ ～ alba lab co.

(Kita-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Wataru Sakurado) and provided by Oasis Medical Incorporated Association (Kita-ku, Tokyo, COO: Wataru Sakurado), has been selected as one of the Good Design Best 100 for 2024 and also received a special award, the Good Design Focus Award (New Business Design). (Organizer: Japan Institute of Design Promotion).

The self-dialysis system is the first dialysis system in Japan developed to improve the QOL (quality of life) of dialysis patients. It is also a new option for dialysis that will transform the lives of users in a positive way. We see this award as a milestone in that it was awarded a special prize in the Good Design Awards as a medical system. The corporation will continue to make efforts to realize and promote self-dialysis and other medical treatments that support patients’ independence in order to improve their QOL.

Summary: A system for dialysis treatment for dialysis patients who suffer from the stress caused by the restrictions of conventional dialysis treatment and are able to go to the hospital without assistance. It mainly improves patients’ physical condition by providing flexible dialysis schedule, psychological safety during dialysis, and sufficient dialysis volume tailored to each individual. The system has been introduced to support the social activities of dialysis patients so that they can lead their lives without giving up what they want to do because of dialysis.

This project was highly evaluated for its ability to solve the problem at a high level by questioning the doctor-oriented dialysis environment and recognizing it as an issue that needs to be improved. The implementation of an excellent system has enabled flexible time adjustment, increased work opportunities, and improved health status through self-adjustment of dialysis time. In addition, the privacy-oriented, study-like space that eliminates the feeling of a hospital bed allows patients to effectively use their dialysis time for work or hobbies, greatly reducing their stress and contributing to improved QOL (quality of life). Furthermore, it should not be overlooked that this system contributes not only to patients but also to saving human resources of hospitals and reducing medical costs.

Self-dialysis system is a system of “self-dialysis” that enables patients to self-manage their dialysis schedule and ensure sufficient dialysis volume.
The benefits of self-dialysis, such as improved physical condition and reduced risk of complications, are much higher than those of conventional treatment.
The patients feel a great sense of physical condition as well as numerical benefits, and it contributes to the improvement of QOL (quality of life) that goes beyond treatment.
